This hydration compatible backpack has a connection for a water bladder built in to the design. It also includes loops to hang your trekking poles when not in use. In the main pocket I keep my camera bag and jacket andother clothing for layering (for colder hiking days). This pouch could also be used to hold a small notebook computer but there’s isn’t any protection. Make sure to wrap the bladder if you prefer cold water. I wrap my bladder with a small bath towel (or you could get an insulated water bladder pouch for it) to keep it cool and my gear dry. I carried this daypack back n forth on a trail to the shower while camping. I think you could strap things to the outside, as it has a daisy chain and two loops at the bottom. I backpack in the backcountry of the Sierra Nevada. And I do day hikes in Sequoia National Park and on the coast. I sweated just a bit but not too much since the walk was short (and I didn't want to sweat after a shower). This pack has no extraneous features, save for the small front zip pocket and an internal hydration sleeve. There are no compression straps or other means of securing anything to the outside of the pack, aside from the "daisy chain" on the front. My only knock on it would be the lack of a small water bottle pocket. I keep my keys a small Leatherman in that pocket. The top pocket I keep my cellphone, battery chargers, an extra camera battery, wallet and sunglass case. Everything was well made and should last a while. A great pack for day hikes, hunting and weekend camping. I've had this pack for 2 years and I've beaten the living daylights out of it and it still performs just as well as the day I bought it. I can't think of a reason not to give it 5 stars.
